Course Overview
The U.S. medical system is one of the most poorly understood institutions. From its unique financial model to the intricate balance among its components, American medicine often seems estranged from the patients it is designed to serve. Taught by a vascular surgeon, former health executive, medical school dean and national healthcare leader, this course is a comprehensive overview of the American medical care system with an emphasis on medical finance and the balance needed among doctors, hospitals, payors & universities to assure patient well-being.
At completion of the course the participant will be able to: 1) understand how the American medical system works (financially & operationally), 2) describe how balance is required to assure patient well-being, 3) outline the current opportunities to rebalance medicine and 4) discuss the steps needed to make patient well-being the priority.
